Chinese leading automobile maker Guangzhou Automobile Group Co (GAC) will sell 1.9 million cars by the end of 2017, according to the company's sales statistics for this year released recently.
From January to November this year, the production and sales of cars have reached 1.84 million and 1.82 million respectively, up 23.75 percent and 23.04 percent compared with the figures of the same period last year.
After years of development, GAC has formed a special trio business pattern supported by self-owned brands, joint-venture brands with Japanese car makers and joint-venture brands with European and American car makers. Among the three, GAC's self-owned brand Trumpchi has undergone remarkable growth.
In 2010, Trumpchi rolled out its first product and its annual auto sales climbed from 17,000 in 2011 to 370,000 in 2016. From January to November this year, more than 460,000 Trumpchi cars have been sold and this figure is set to hit 500,000 by the end of this year.
On Sept 28, JD Power, an authoritative market survey institution that provides car research, quality assurance, reviews and industry news, released its Initial Quality Study (IQS) saying that Trumpchi has trumped all other Chinese automobile brands for the fifth year running.
Its GA8, GS8 and GM8 cars, hailed as an example of China's high-end manufacturing, have received widespread acclaim at various international summits, such as Summer Davos, the G20 Summit, the China-ASEAN Exposition and the 2017 Fortune Global Forum.

GAC has been featured in the Fortune Top 500 list for the last five years in a row, achieving 238th in this year's list. According to company's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20), GAC will strive to enlarge its production capacity to produce 2.4 million cars annually by 2020, with its annual revenue reaching 400 billion yuan ($60.58 billion).
As Guangzhou presses ahead with its IAB initiative, which focuses on the development of next generation information technology, artificial intelligence and biomedical industries, GAC will speed up its development of smart internet-connected vehicles and new energy vehicles, striving to inject great dynamics for the city's IAB industries development. On April 27, construction work officially began on the GAC Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Industrial Park. With investment of 45 billion yuan, the project is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2018, be able to make 400,000 automobiles by 2025 and realize a revenue of 170 billion yuan.
