Applications for the 2018 Guangzhou maker space special subsidy began on Oct 20 with the city's official government website releasing guidelines for applying the subsidy.

Online application began from Oct 20 and will end at 17:00 on Nov 3 with the due time for paper materials examination being Nov 15. Paper material will be submitted to Guangzhou Technological Projects Evaluation Center located on No 42 Lianxin Road in Yuexiu district.

A total of seven kinds of subsidies are provided.

1.Maker space rent subsidy

Subsidy applicant: maker space operators

Subsidy amount: when maker space provides rent-free space for makers to start their business, an annual 500 yuan ($75.6) per square meter subsidy will be granted to the maker space operators for three consecutive years. The total subsidy does not exceed 300,000 yuan.

2.Public technological platform construction subsidy

Subsidy applicant: maker space operators or public technological platform service institution

Subsidy amount: for the public technological platform constructed to serve the makers, a once-for-all subsidy of 30 percent of investment amount of the platform will be provided to the maker space operators or public technological platform service institution. The total amount for this subsidy does not exceed 3 million yuan.

3.Subsidy for hiring entrepreneurial tutors

Subsidy applicant: maker space operators

Subsidy amount: for maker spaces hiring entrepreneurial tutors who have served more than one year at the maker space and passed the performance evaluation, the maker spaces will be provide 30,000 yuan per tutor. The total amount of subsidy provided to one maker space does not exceed 300,000 yuan.

4.Makers innovation subsidy

Subsidy applicant: makers

Subsidy amount: for makers who start a business in a maker space, a monthly subsidy not more than 500 yuan will be provided to the makers for a year. Applications will be submitted through the maker space and the subsidy amount does not exceed the total amount paid to the maker space by the makers.

5.Makers loan guarantee deposit subsidy

Subsidy applicant: makers

For the makers who loaned from the bank to start up a business in the maker space, a subsidy with amount equal to the guarantee deposit incurred will be granted to the makers. The total amount of the subsidy does not exceed 500,000 yuan.

6.Service-purchasing subsidy

Subsidy applicant: makers

Subsidy amount: for makers who purchase services including research and development, product design, intellectual property, technological consultation, technological testing and certification, can apply for innovation coupon which will function as payment document for the service provider. For makers who purchase services including financing and legal services will be provided with full subsidy with total amount less than 100,000 yuan.

7.Maker space performance subsidy

Subsidy applicant: maker space operators

Subsidy amount: for maker spaces whose performance evaluation scores exceeding 80, a total of 200,000 yuan subsidy will be provided to them.
