GPHL works with Guangdong Academy of Sciences to promote IAB

Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL), a leading pharmaceutical wholesaler and distribution company headquartered in Guangzhou, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangdong Academy of Sciences (GAS) in Guangzhou on July 13.

The two parties announced that they will establish a center for biopharmaceutical scientific and technological achievements transformation.

They will work together on scientific research, technological development and market promotion as well as promoting deep cooperation and innovation in areas including biomedicine and health.  

Li Chuyuan, chairman of the board of GPHL, said, "Bio-pharmacy is an IAB industry – a new generation of information technology, artificial intelligence and biological medicine, that Guangzhou has been promoting and GPHL, a leading role of Guangzhou biomedical industry, should take the initiative to promote the industry."

Li noted that GPHL is now making structural reforms to become an innovation-driven enterprise and is working hard to lead IAB industries.

Based on the GPHL's advantages in technological innovation and talents and GAS's advantages in industrialization and marketing, the two parties will promote in-depth cooperation in pharmacy, medical equipment, and biological resources and strive to deliver better results via founding an innovative R&D platform, nurturing startups and carrying out project research.

"The key procedure of biological pharmacy is the industrialization of scientific and technological achievements, which is a long and complicated but lucrative process," Li said. "We wish to work together with GAS to enhance the process so as to bring more technical advantages to Guangzhou's IAB industries."

According to the agreement, the two parties will also explore new ways to cultivate innovative talents by using training platforms including production-study-research cooperation demonstration bases, teaching bases and postdoctoral centers.

Moreover, the cooperation between GPHL and GAS will also center on intelligent manufacturing to help facilitate GPHL's transformation and upgrading from a company making medicine with low technological content to an enterprise with core technology and independent intellectual property rights.
