After four fierce rounds of keepie uppies, Japanese kemari, and ball-based rhythmic gymnastics, Huang Hongyi from Heyuan was crowned freestyle football champion at the Guangdong round of the 2017 Carabao Freestyle Football World Cup (CFFWC) held in Guangzhou on July 8.

Huang was proclaimed equal-winner with Shi Baosheng, from Hong Kong, both qualifying and proceeding through to the national CFFWC finals to be held in Beijing on July 20.
The Guangdong round winners will compete against six qualifiers, including international competitors, from the previous three rounds.

Despite summer rains, a record 36 talented freestyle footballers entered the Guangzhou round of the national competition, including 12 teenagers.
Liu Yulin, the only female entrant, impressed the crowds with her skillful moves and tricks despite not winning through to the final.
