Guangzhou, the host city of the 2017 Fortune Global Forum, sent a delegation to the city of Chicago in the United States on June 8, seeking business exchanges.

It is the ninth promotional event for the forum and the third stop in the US, following New York and Washington on March 13 and 14. 

The roadshow attracted Guangzhou-based companies, including China Southern Airlines, Guangzhou Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Guangzhou Yuexiu Group, and their overseas counterparts, such as Boeing, Walgreens, and Ingredion.

At the event, the Deputy Mayor of Guangzhou, Cai Chaolin, detailed Guangzhou's business environment, development philosophy and willingness of cooperating with US enterprises.

Chicago is the third most populous city in the US and an international hub for finance, and home to some major financial and futures exchanges, including the Chicago Stock Exchange, and Chicago Climate Exchange.

Guangzhou is the third largest metropolis city in China after Beijing and Shanghai, and shares a similar industrial structure with Chicago. It is striving to develop its financial industry and is to draw from experiences by establishing cooperation in the field with its American partner.

During the event, Adam Lashinsky, executive chief editor of magazine Fortune, John Needham, managing director of the Fortune Global Forum, government officials of Chicago and representatives from the Global Fortune 500 enterprises gathered to discuss "Building a smart, healthy, and environment-friendly hub city".
