Bougainvillea flowers are in blossom during March, April, and May, fading about a month later.
Bougainvillea, an ornamental vine, is the official flower of Shenzhen, Huizhou and Jiangmen. The plant and its colorful flowers can be spotted seemingly at every turn in Guangzhou.
Its warm and moist climate makes Guangzhou an ideal place for bougainvillea to thrive. They are found in bloom creeping up walls, along streams and over pedestrian bridges, adding color and vigor to the South China city.
Where to see them: South China Botanical Garden, Guangzhou Martyr Memorial Park, Baiyun Mountain
