Lantern Festival celebrated across Gansu

Amidst the resounding beats of drums and gongs, jubilant melodies echoed through the air, as vibrant dragon and lion dances brought cheers to the Lantern Festival celebrations across Gansu province on Feb 24.

In Dingxi city, approximately 3,000 performers from 10 folk troupes across six counties and one district took to the stage, presenting a spectacular cultural feast to over 10,000 spectators.

In Jingning county, more than 40 folk troupes filled the streets with excitement, showcasing traditional performances such as the Weifeng drum, stilts, Jingning folk songs, lion dance, donkey riding, and Yangge dance.

Dressed in festive attire, performers from Chounidihe village, Qingshui town, Yuzhong county, enthralled the audience with captivating dragon and lion dances and stilts performances.

Similar festivities unfolded in Zhangye city, Pingliang city, and Maiji district of Tianshui city, where folk art performances and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions attracted throngs of locals and tourists.

Through their vibrant performances, the dedicated folk artists conveyed the joyous atmosphere of the festival to each and every individual, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who witnessed the festivities.
