An exhibition with the theme "Approaching Gannan: a Colorful Place in Gansu" was  launched  in Paris on Dec 11.

The eight-day exhibition, which is being held both online and offline, displays 100 photography works that focus on natural scenery, traditions and customs of ethnic people, and the progress of poverty reduction in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, together with 10 pieces of Tibetan Tangka, a kind of silk and cloth painting.

During the opening ceremony, scholars, documentary film makers and other attendees from China and France talked about Gansu, voicing their unique perception of the province in Northwest China.

Gannan prefecture is located on the northeast edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and borders Qinghai and Sichuan provinces. It is home to Maqu Grassland, Langmu Temple and Labrang Monastery, which have enjoyed high popularity among visitors from home and abroad.

In September,  vloggers from the US, Russia and Canada visited the area in an effort to showcase its natural scenery, ethnic culture, and poverty relief results following an invitation from the  China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration.

They created dozens of short videos that have been viewed nearly 4 million times.
