Fujian's GDP grows 12.3% in H1

The gross domestic product of Fujian province increased 12.3 percent year-on-year to 2.29 trillion yuan ($354.10 billion) in the first half of 2021, the provincial statistics bureau announced on July 21.

In the first six months of this year, the added value from the province's primary industries reached 109.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.8 percent. Meanwhile, Fujian's secondary and tertiary industries had an added value of 1.07 trillion yuan and 1.11 trillion yuan, an increase of 11.5 percent and 13.9 percent year-on-year respectively.

In the first half of the year, the total added value from Fujian's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries industries reached 202.78 billion yuan, up by 4.8 percent year-on-year. The output of vegetable, edible fungi, tea, garden, fruit, wood, meat, egg, milk, and other major agricultural products kept increasing in the same period.

The province's industrial production continued to recover in that period. The industrial added value increased by 14.6 percent in the January to June period.

The added value of the province's service industry grew 13.9 percent year-on-year in the first half of this year. In terms of sectors, the wholesale and retail, transportation and storage, postal service, accommodation, as well as catering sectors increased by more than 20 percent, while the operating income of the culture, sports, and entertainment industry surged by 68.1 percent.

Statistics also showed that the province's total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 17.9 percent year-on-year, its fixed asset investment increased steadily with a year-on-year growth of 13.1 percent, its import and export volume of goods soared by 39.1 percent year-on-year, as well as that the total revenue of the provincial general public budget was 342.99 billion yuan, up 28.1 percent from the previous year.
