Liu Chunsheng is a resident of Matoushan village, Gucheng town, Changting county. 

He has diabetes, which led to the amputation of his left leg in his 20s, and his son has suffered from congenital hearing loss since birth. His family fell into poverty due to illness and was listed as a poverty-stricken family in 2016.

Thanks to the government's poverty relief program launched that same year, Liu's life is continuing to improve. His family was resettled into a bright and spacious new house, and the local government provided Liu and his wife with jobs, rekindling their hope for life.
