Customs in East China's Fujian province has been taking effective measures to prevent and control of the COVID-19 epidemic and promote work resumption, according to local media reports on April 14.

Fuzhou Customs has designated special windows and green passages to facilitate the customs clearance of medical supplies, and released an array of supporting measures to promote the development of foreign trade firms. Currently, more than 80 percent of foreign trade firms have resumed full operations in the Fuzhou Customs district.

As the pandemic spreads around the globe, demand for medical supplies from China has increased dramatically, and Fuzhou Customs plans to step up efforts to properly inspect medical supplies for export.

Customs authorities said that companies that don't truthfully declare medical supplies for export will be investigated and exposed to the public on government platforms.

Fuzhou Customs has also carried out strict classification management of its 11 ports, and only one airport has been opened to the public, so as to better screen and quarantine inbound flights to Fujian and tighten checks at border crossings.

Since April 1, Fuzhou Customs has required all inbound travelers to receive nucleic acid tests. Confirmed patients and suspected cases must be transferred to local designated hospitals for medical treatment, and asymptomatic cases must undergo a 14-day quarantine at designated sites for medical observation.
