All State-owned A-level scenic spots in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, are free to visitors, local media reported on April 7.

A notice jointly released by four local municipal bureaus, including the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, states that before June 30, with the exception of scenic attractions which remain closed, all State-owned A-level scenic spots in Xiamen will open to local residents free of charge.

The notice also encourages non-State-owned A-level scenic spots open free to Xiamen residents.

Most scenic spots in Xiamen require reservations in advance.

Take Hulishan Fortress for example, visitors must obtain their free tickets on travel service websites Ctrip, Meituan or Lvmama in advance. A staff member said that they now limit the number of visitors in Hulishan Fortress to 1,500, and if there are more visitors in the future, they will launch time-specific reservations on the travel websites.

Before entering scenic spots, visitors are required to show their green QR health codes, have their temperatures taken, and wear masks.

The State-owned A-level scenic spots in Xiamen include Gulangyu Island, Botanical Gardens, Turtle Garden, Tianzhu Mountain Forest Park, Hulishan Fortress, Universal Expo of Architectures, Qingqiao Ciji Temple, Beichen Mountain, Chengyi Discovery Center, Tong'an World Studios, Jinguang Lake, Dadeng Town, Gulong Sauce Cultural Park, Shuanglongtan Ecological Scenic Spot, and Dadeng Island Sightseeing Area.

To attract more tourists in Fujian, Xiamen will offer subsidies of 30 yuan ($4.25), 50 yuan and 80 yuan per person to travel agencies which receive Fujian tourists staying in Xiamen for one, two, or three nights respectively, and the subsidies will be capped at 500,000 yuan.
