Ancient Town of Longmen
Longmen Town exemplifies a traditional clan settlement in ancient China. It is home to the largest settlement of the descendants of Sun Quan (182-252), who was the emperor of the state of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms Period. To date, there have been 65 generations of Suns in Longmen. In addition to preserving scores of ancestral shrines, halls, pagodas, camphor trees, and footbridges, the town was still able to ensure that the 7,000 residents of Longmen were able to remain in their homes. This project serves as a fine example of the preservation of other ancient towns in China.
