A new train route connecting Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, to Hong Kong will take around seven hours, after the express rail link connecting Hong Kong with the Chinese mainland goes into operation in September.

The 140-kilometer Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL), which connects Hong Kong with Guangzhou and Shenzhen, has entered its trial run after the completion of the final phase in the Hong Kong section.

People travelling from Hangzhou to Hong Kong will be able to make a transfer at Guangzhou and board a train on the XRL, with a total fare of approximately 934 yuan ($136) for a one-way trip.

The Guangzhou-Hong Kong section of XRL, which starts from Guangzhou South Railway Station, takes only 48 minutes to reach the Hong Kong West Kowloon Terminus.

It is scheduled that around 127 high-speed rail trains will run between Guangzhou and Hong Kong every day, meaning anybody needing to transfer in Guangzhou should not have to wait long.
