China International Cartoon and Animation Festival
The China International Cartoon and Animation Festival (CICAF) is the only State-level professional cartoon and animation festival of its kind in the Chinese mainland. It is sponsored by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and government of Zhejiang Province; it is also co-organized by the Hangzhou municipal government, the Radio, Film and Television Bureau of Zhejiang Province and Zhejiang Radio & TV Group. It has been held annually in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, a scenic city famed for its legendary West Lake, a World Cultural Heritage site, since 2005.
With a main venue of 80,000 square meters, CICAF is a comprehensive carnival-like festival, facing B2B and B2C and is mainly composed of five major parts: an expo, forums, business sessions and competitions, as well as events such as the Opening Ceremony, Industry Exposition, Core Forum, iABC, the “Golden Monkey King” Awards Competition, the Hangzhou Summit, C.A.K.E Talks, Film Screening, a Cartoon Masterpiece Auction and a float parade.
The 13th CICAF is the first held after the G20 era began. With the theme of “International Animation, Embrace the World” and Hangzhou’s internationalization strategy, the festival is composed of 59 activities launched in the main venue and 16 branch venues, centering on the five boards of convention and exhibition, forum, business, competition and activity. They attracted 1.38 million attendees from 82 countries and regions, including 2,587 Chinese and foreign companies, and 5,600 exhibitors and professionals. Among them, 332,600 participants visited the main venue, signing contracts or cooperation intentions for 986 projects, worth 13.012 billion yuan and relating to 2.316 billion yuan in composite consumption, totaling 15.33 billion yuan.
With the theme of “Animate our city; Animate our lives”, CICAF has become the cartoon and animation festival with the largest scale, highest popularity and widest influence in China, and also cuts a figure on the international stage. With its 13-year experience CICAF intends to further enhance its brand influence and event quality to develop into a communication platform with broader international visions and higher professional standards. The carnival is looking forward to meeting all its guests in Hangzhou and sharing a wonderful cartoon and animation feast with them.
