Hangzhou Gongshu Gymnasium
The Gongshu gymnasium, formerly the Gongshu lighting stadium, was built in 1971. The Zhejiang provincial and Hangzhou municipal Physical Culture and Sports Commission and the Gongshu district invested 1.3 million yuan ($204,570) to construct the gymnasium, which was finished in June 1981. The second gymnasium in Zhejiang province, it covers a building area of 2,500 square meters and has 2,500 seats. It has held many sports events such as basketball tournaments, wushu, volleyball and badminton meets, large-scale performances and government conferences.
The Gongshu gymnasium was merged in 2007 with the Gongshu swimming pool, built in 1964. In addition to swimming, the 5,600-sq m fitness center has designated areas for badminton, dancing, taekwondo and chess.
