Located in the historic and cultural city of Hangzhou, Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) is an institution of higher learning that offers multiple disciplines, including engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, education and art. While highlighting electronics and information science, HDU is also strong in the discipline of business management. It consists of five campuses, Xiasha campus, Wenyi campus, Dongyue campus, Xiasha East campus and Qingshanhu campus which cover a total area of more than 166 hectares. The university has 20 colleges and one independent college, with a current enrollment of more than 28,000 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates and a staff of 2,200. 

Since its foundation, its talent fostering system continues to improve and it has come to offer programs at a variety of levels, such as undergraduate, graduate and continuing education and international student education. The university is entitled to enroll overseas students as well as students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.  

HDU has completed a host of high-tech research projects and province or ministry sponsored research projects. Many of these projects were awarded the second prize of the national technological progress awards, and the second prize of the national technological invention awards. Annual research funding has amounted to 100 million yuan ($15.78 million).

The university has extensive international academic exchanges and cooperation with foreign prestigious universities, multinational enterprises and research institutes from over 20 countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, France and Japan. Collaborations are carried out in intensive academic research and talent fostering.
