Zhejiang Chinese Medical University
Founded in 1953, Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU) is a teaching-research type university featuring TCM and Chinese medicine and collaborative development of medicine, science, engineering, management and literature. The university was co-established by the Zhejiang provincial government, the State Administration of Chinese Traditional Medicine and the Ministry of Education. With its two campuses of Binwen and Fuchun, ZCMU envelops an overall building area of over 470,000 square meters.
ZCMU is one of the institutions of higher TCM education in China to recruit and cultivate TCM and Chinese medicine graduates, and to recruit students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It currently has 14 schools, one independent college, three directly affiliated hospitals and 20 indirectly affiliated hospitals.
It has 15,196 full-time students, including 12,795 undergraduate students, 1,848 postgraduates, 193 doctoral students and 360 overseas students. The headquarters of ZCMU is equipped with a faculty of 1,124 staff, 327 of whom hold senior titles (including those in the directly affiliated hospitals).
With the distinctive advantage of TCM, ZCMU constantly advances international communications. It has established partnerships with more than 90 institutions of education, medicine, science and research from over 30 countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and the South Korea, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan. It has employed over 50 foreign experts and scholars as guest professors.
