Introduction:
Indianapolis became the capital of the U.S. state of Indiana in 1821. After Chicago, it is the second largest city in the U. S. Midwest and the 12th largest city in the United States. Covering an area of 963 square meters, it is home to about 829,000 people.
The city, known as the crossroad of the US, is a Midwest railway freight hub. It has green areas of more than 52.6 square kilometers, including Eagle Creek Park, the largest city park in the country. The Eagle Creek Reservoir near the park is the main source of water for the residents and industries of the city.
Advanced manufacturing, industrial machinery, transportation, logistics distribution, information technology and life sciences are the major industries of the city. An important reason for the success of the new economy of Indianapolis is the introduction of a lot of hi-tech talents. Famous multinational companies, such as Fedex, Toyota and Lilly Pharmaceuticals have settled in the city.
