Hangzhou is home to one state-level, 52 provincial-level and 91 municipal-level industrial design centers as well as 17 municipal-level industrial design bases and parks. Around 10,000 people have been reported to be working in the sector. In 2016, the net income of design services in Hangzhou reached 1.62 billion yuan ($252 million), an increase of 20 percent year-on-year, and the output value of the industrialized industrial designs was about 108 billion yuan.
