Hefang Street and Southern Song Imperial Street
Located at the foot of Wushan Mountain, Hefang Street is a historical site where people can sense the culture of Hangzhou city.
Adjacent to famous scenic spots West Lake and Town God’s Temple, the street is home to century-old shops like Huqingyu Chinese Pharmacy and Wanlong Ham Shop, as well as cultural relics, such as drum-tower and former residence of Yu Qian, a top official of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The street was designated as 4A level scenic site in 2007. Through years of development, it has formed six kinds of characteristic culture of traditional Chinese medicine, accommodation, ancient buildings, dwelling, folk-custom, and antiques and paintings, becoming a must-go tourist destination in Hangzhou.
Southern Song Imperial Street, a re-creation of what Hangzhou looked like seven centuries ago, is a popular destination for tourists and natives alike. Stretching a length of 4,185 meters, the street was exclusive used by the emperors in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and served as political, economic, cultural and commercial center at that time. Buildings of modern times and pseudo-classic architectures in western style are lined along both sides of the street.
