Abstract: Storage is the key to the development of the big data industry and for storing enterprise data and ensuring economic, industrial and national security. However, China’s data storage industry still faces problems including weak technological research and development (R&D), low efficiency and severe security risks. Its R&D of core technologies still relies on imports. To boost innovation and development of China’s data storage industry, enterprises need to promote the transformation of storage technology framework and service models to improve digital capability and level. The government needs to establish an innovative development system for China’s storage industry to ensure national data security. The authorities should attach strategic importance to the development of the storage industry to ensure the security of China’s digital industries through formulating new development plans for the storage industry, improving the innovation system of the semiconductor flash memory industry, achieving independent R&D of storage technology, and enhancing the building of a national big data center.
