Research Report, No.104, 2021 (Total 6169) 2021-4-28

Abstract: Research findings made by DRC Research Team on “Survey on People’s Livelihood in China” show that the overall satisfaction rate of food safety during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) improved significantly across the board. Nearly half of the respondents believed that domestic food safety improved and many expressed confidences on food safety improvement. Although some prominent problems were dealt with, some issues of public concerns including pesticide, veterinary drug and antibiotic residue, excessive use of food additives, and illegal addition of non-edible substances still remain to be addressed. People’s negative impressions on domestic dairy products have not been moved. Affected by COVID-19 pandemic, public expenditure on food has increased remarkably. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), we need to summarize and promote the experience gained during the 13th Five-Year Plan period to move the prevailing negative impressions of the public, continue to strengthen supervision on homegrown dairy products, and improve management of new business modes such as live-streaming sales to ensure food safety in the new era so as to live up to people’s expectations.
