Long Guoqiang, director-general of the General Office of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), took part in a modern agriculture and technology charity seminar on Jan 9. Long delivered a keynote speech themed "China's Opening-Up Strategy in a New Normal of Economic Growth".

The Almanac of China's Economy Press and the Li Ka Shing Foundation held the seminar. Participants had an in-depth discussion about the technological innovation and its role in the economy's adaption to the new normal and in leading the new normal, based on the requirements of the economy's new normal and the central conference on rural work.

The seminar also shared the experience of the foundation's donation to a castor-oil plant project in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, and analyzed the special role of technology and charity in modern agricultural development.

Xu Xiaoqing, former director-general of the DRC's Research Department of Rural Economy, presided over the seminar with Li Ming, publisher; Wang Hui, vice-publisher of the Almanac of China's Economy Press; and Solina Chau, director of the Li Ka Shing Foundation.
