Abstract:
The rural economy was seriously affected by SARS and natural disasters in 2003. However, thanks to improved policy environment and favorable agricultural market situation both at home and abroad, the rural economy was in a stable operation in the whole year. In 2004, the central government will adopt and speed up the implementation of a series of major policies and reform measures in favor of the economic and social development in rural areas and as an effort to give overall consideration to urban and rural development. Plus favorable domestic and international markets, the rural economic situation in 2004 will continue to improve.
