Abstract:

The Land Committee of Japan completed a report recently, which is a comprehensive study on land related issues: the success and remaining problems in land planning policy in the past, the changes in the environment which caused changes in the land policies, fundamentals in land policy in the future, and the practical meaning in land planning itself. Along with an introduction to this report, this paper raises questions in China's land planning programs, and urges for an initiation in land planning which should work on the prominent issues related to land utilization and regional development; at the same time, the coordination function in land planning should be employed.
