Abstract:

As China's society faces the possibly enormous challenges in the immediate period after the WTO accession, the current social policy and social administration system in China are not compatible with the new situation and can not provide effective protection for the vulnerable groups in the society. For some period of time in the future, therefore, the focus of the social policy of the Chinese government should be to speed up the reform of social administration system and social security system, enhance overall protection for vulnerable groups, prevent escalation of social conflicts and ensure the political support of all strata of the society for the opening and development strategy of the government in the context of globalization.
