The Development Research Center of the State Council held a meeting on April 9 to launch the Informatization and Chinese Economy Transformation and Upgrading Strategy Project, with Long Guoqiang, head of the project and director-general of the General Office of DRC, and other project members attending the meeting.

Long said at the meeting that as information technology advances, China has to study the impact that it brings to social and economic development for its new-type industrialization, informatization, urbanization and agricultural modernization with Chinese characteristics. The country should know and grasp the trend of information technology and its development to make policies and work out strategies.

Dr Li Guangqian, coordinator of the project, introduces a research proposal and assignment distribution. Participants have a heated discussion around the project.
