Aug 29,2013

Affiliated with the DRC, the Research Institute of Resources and Environment Policies (IREP) undertakes research on theories, strategies, institutions and policies for building a resource-conserving and environmentally-friendly society to promote sustainable development. It also researches issues related to promoting the rational development and utilization of natural resources and energy. It also focuses on institutions and policies to ensure national resource and energy security, strengthen environmental protection and management, and restore the eco-system.

The IREP’s research also covers institutions and policies for green growth, recycling development and low-tar development. It works to implement energy conservation and emission reduction in response to global climate change. Other research areas include policies to optimize territorial development, implementation of main functional areas strategies, and protection of the marine eco-environment. While accomplishing research tasks designated by the DRC and the central government, the IREP also undertakes research projects entrusted by central and local government departments, public institutions and enterprises.

The institute, led by a director-general, consists of five offices: general office, resource policy research office, environmental policy research office, comprehensive policy research office and legal research office.
