Inaugural National Symposium on Molecular Biophysics held in Hangzhou

The first National Symposium on Molecular Biophysics took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, from Nov 10 to 13.

Hosted by the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and organized by the College of Life Sciences at China Jiliang University, the symposium provided a platform for discussing the latest advances in molecular biophysics and life health. 

The event aimed to push the boundaries of structural and computational biology while fostering interdisciplinary integration with metrology, medicine and agriculture. It also sought to enhance China’s research capabilities in molecular biophysics and strengthen both domestic and international collaboration.

More than 300 experts and scholars participated in the symposium, which focused on five areas: infection and immunity, regulation of gene expression, in situ structures of cells, membrane proteins and computational & intelligent design. A total of 29 talks were delivered, sparking lively discussions and exchanges.

Keynote speakers included Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) academician Rao Zihe from Tsinghua University and Xu Ruiming, a research fellow at the CAS Institute of Biophysics, both of whom delivered insightful reports that highlighted cutting-edge research findings.

To encourage participation of young scholars, the symposium introduced a poster presentation session, offering an opportunity for early-career researchers to showcase their work, engage in academic exchanges and connect with peers. 

Six participants received certificates as part of the Outstanding Poster Award.
