About the award
The top awards of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), the Shitsan Pai Award and the Shitsan Pai Award for Young Biophysicists were launched to celebrate the society’s 30th anniversary in 2009 and to commemorate its founder Shitsan Pai, a senior academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Pai was praised as the people's scientist in honor of his great contributions to the development of Chinese science and technology. The Shitsan Pai International Award was set up in 2013. In 2015 a new medal for the Shitsan Pai Award made of 100 grams of pure gold was adopted.
