Beijing hosts conferences on free radical research, redox biology and medicine

Updated: 2024-10-29

The 11th Biennial Meeting of Society for Free Radical Research-Asia, along with the Chinese National Conference of Redox Biology and Medicine 2024, took place in Beijing from Oct 21 to 23.

Hosted by the Academic Subgroup of Free Radical Biology and Free Radical Medicine of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) and the LKS Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, the conferences brought together 648 experts and scholars from China and abroad. They facilitated the sharing of latest research findings and the discussion of academic issues, and presented redox-related health information in a way that would resonate with the public.

Under the theme "A New Era for Precision Redox Biology and Medicine: From Basic Research to Aging and Disease Interventions", participants both in person and online discussed foundational research, redox homeostasis in aging and disease, as well as accurate redox interventions and health management.

By mapping a future trajectory for redox biology and medicine, the events brought research outcomes to enhance public health and quality of life, supporting the Healthy China initiative.

The conferences will promote the integration of cutting-edge knowledge into everyday life, enabling the public to gain insights into the critical interplay between oxidation and reduction processes and their roles in maintaining health. Moreover, they will learn practical strategies to manage and sustain this balance in daily life, said a participant.
