Liu Zhijie

International Eurasian Academy of Sciences

Liu Zhijie is an academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, dean of Dadao College at ShanghaiTech University, executive director of the iHuman Institute and professor at the School of Life Science and Technology at ShanghaiTech.

Previously, Liu served as a Hundred Talents Program researcher at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and a doctoral supervisor. As chief scientist, he has chaired major research projects under the National Basic Research Program and the State High-tech Development Plan, as well as key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

In 2012, Liu received the special government allowances of the State Council and won the WuXi AppTec Life Science and Chemistry Award. In 2020, he received first prize in the Shanghai Natural Science Award and obtained the 2022 Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award. He has been named a Shanghai Leading Talent and been honored with the tile of outstanding mentor by the CAS three times.

Currently, Liu holds the positions of vice-president of the Biophysical Society of China, executive council member of the Chinese Crystallographic Society, and council member of the International Organization for Biological Crystallization and the Asian Crystallographic Association. He also serves on the editorial boards of IUCrJ and JMB

Liu’s research mainly focuses on the structures and functions of key disease-related proteins and structure-based drug design. 

As a corresponding author, he has published over 120 papers in SCI journals, including four in Cell, four in Nature, one in Science and many in Immunity, Nat Stru Mole Biol and PNAS. He also holds five patents related to cancer chemotherapy and schizophrenia targets.
