Jiang Changtao is a professor at Peking University, serving as vice-dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences and chair of the Department of Immunology. He is the recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and winner of the Xplorer Prize.

Jiang is engaged in research on gut microbiota, gut microbiota-derived enzymes and metabolic diseases, and has proposed a new theory of cross-species regulation of host homeostasis by gut microbiota-derived enzymes.

As the corresponding author, Jiang has published more than 20 papers in internationally renowned journals, including Cell, Science and Nature. Among these, six were selected as highly cited papers, one received an F1000Prime recommendation with the highest rating score and 11 were recommended by internationally renowned scholars and obtained contemporaneous reviews.

Jiang has been invited to publish 10 reviews and commentaries in journals such as Nature Reviews Endocrinology and Cell Host & Microbe and was appointed to the editorial board of Cell Metabolism. He has obtained seven authorized invention patents and established the Peking University Health Science-Mengniu Nutrition and Metabolic Health Joint Laboratory.

Jiang has received multiple awards, including China’s top 10 advances in life sciences, first prize in the Beijing Natural Science Award (as the primary author), the China Youth Science and Technology Award and the innovation award of the C.C. Tan Life Science Award. He has chaired more than 10 projects under the auspices of the Major Research Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Key Research and Development Program of China.
