Youth editorial board of Biophysics Reports holds inaugural meeting in Beijing

The inaugural meeting of the youth editorial board of Biophysics Reports was held at the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences on Dec 19. 

The event, conducted in an online and offline mode, discussed the responsibilities and privileges of the youth editorial board members, and proposed specific plans for leveraging their role in the journal's development.

Xu Tao, editor-in-chief of the publication and president of the Biophysical Society of China (BSC), reviewed the background and objectives of Biophysics Reports in a speech. He highlighted the journal's goals of providing a platform for domestic scholars to showcase their research findings and promoting the progress of scientific research and new technologies in China. 

Emphasizing the strong support from the country for the development of scientific methods and instrument research, he encouraged board members to seize this unprecedented opportunity to enhance the quality of the journal. 

Xu also urged the youth editorial board to actively participate in journal construction, and to make Biophysics Reports an internationally renowned publication in the field of technical methodology. 

Subsequently, Liu Pingsheng, director-general of the BSC, acknowledged the vital role played by young scholars in the field. He expressed anticipation for the contributions of the board members and assured full support from the society in their academic endeavors. Liu also pledged to provide them with abundant academic resources and valuable opportunities.

The editorial team presented an overview of Biophysics Reports' operational status this year and outlined prospective goals for 2024-25. The upcoming year's plans include applying for inclusion in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), and encouraging involvement of the youth editorial board in paper reviews, manuscript submissions and contribution solicitation. Additionally, efforts will be made to strengthen promotional activities and conduct regular online forums for the youth editorial board. 

Engaging discussions ensued among the youth editorial board members who provided suggestions for the journal's development. The meeting concluded with the definition of editorial tasks for next year, marking a successful and productive gathering.
