A new base to promote science was established by the Biophysical Society of China (BSC) at Xinghua High School in Daxing district in Beijing on Oct 26, after the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two sides.

At the signing ceremony, Liu Pingsheng, BSC secretary-general, reviewed the history of cooperation between the BSC and the school.

He said that with the establishment of the science popularization base, the BSC would undertake more activities with the school.

Lliu added that both sides would make joint efforts to promote the development of the science popularization base and regularly hold activities there.

He also invited Xinghua school students to come to the labs of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in their summer vacation to learn more about science.

At the launch ceremony, Liu had face-to-face exchanges with students from the school. He and Daxing district officials then jointly unveiled a foundation plaque for the center in the presence of teachers and students. At the ceremony, BSC representatives and the school leaders presented books to 12 student representatives.

The base will enable scientists to enter the campus and play an important role in the science education of students.

In the future, the BSC will use the base as the platform to promote scientific knowledge with more young people, to attract them to science as a profession.
