Wei Chaoliang graduated from the Institute of Molecular Medicine of Peking University with a doctoral degree in 2007. During his study in the institute, Wei discovered a phenomenon and named it “calcium flickers”. He explained that the calcium flickers regulate directional migration of cells. The academic paper, Calcium Flickers Steer Cell Migration, which has Wei as the primary author and co-author, was published on Nature, on Feb 12, 2009 and recommended by the magazines of Nature Reviews Molecular Cell Biology, Science Signaling, Developmental Cell and websites like Cell Migration Gateway, The Signaling Gateway, and Nature China.
