Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics is a journal sponsored by the Institute of Biophysics, CAS together with the Biophysical Society of China. Published mainly in Chinese, the journal has garnered broad recognition and praise in bioscience, basic medicine and other relevant fields domestically. In addition to winning numerous awards at national and provincial (ministerial) levels, the journal is also starting to be acknowledged by international academic community. It has been indexed by authoritative world retrieval systems such as SCI, CA, Russia’s Abstract Journals and SCOUPUS.
Over the decade since its launch, Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics has kept pace with the times and taken on a new look in editing methods, publication form and content strategy. Its academic level and influence have dramatically increased.
The journal has established a web-based papers information management system and process for paper submission, review, editing and publication to be completed all online. In addition, it opened a public account on WeChat in 2015 and set up a message-driven paper management system for publication, submission and review services on mobile terminals.
Since 2011, the editorial board and editorial office have focused on increasing content planning. By planning special issues and reports, the journal has further improved its academic impact and scientific quality. To date, it has published seven special issues and six special reports.
During this period, Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics received type-B project funding from CAST for high quality STM journals in two consecutive years, in 2006 and 2007. In 2012 and 2013, the journal was named among the "Highest International Impact Academic Journals of China", ranking in the top 5 percent among all candidates (statistics from CNKI).
