Meicun town in Wuxi is famous for erhu, and regarded as the home of the traditional Chinese musical instrument often referred to as the "Chinese fiddle".
The Moon Reflected in the Second Spring (Erquan Yingyue) is a score of erhu music composed by blind folk musician Hua Yanjun, known colloquially as A Bing, in Wuxi in 1949.
The erhu is a violin (fiddle) with two strings which, together with zhonghu, gaohu, and sihu, belongs to the "huqin" family of instruments.
Gu Yue is one of the best-known companies making the instrument in China. And the company - founded by Wan Qixing more than 60 years ago - has a factory in Meicun, which is home to dozens of middle-aged artisans who painstakingly assemble each erhu by hand.
The posture which players must adopt to play the erhu is the same as that for other kinds of huqin: the left hand holding the fiddle and the right hand holding the bow.
The erhu was decorated with Liuqing – a type of vibrant green bamboo carving and traditional cultural heritage of Wuxi.
