Tiangong wins award in Zhongguancun Biomimetic Robot Competition
The robot "Tiangong" of the National-Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center
"Tiangong", the robot developed by the National-Local Co-built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center from the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town), won multiple championships in the recent 2024 Zhongguancun Biomimetic Robot Competition held in Beijing.
"Tiangong" won multiple contests in speed races and obstacle courses and ultimately received the Overall Champion Award in the fierce competition.
This competition had four categories: humanoid biomimetic robots, multi-legged biomimetic robots, humanoid large models and other biomimetic robots. The humanoid biomimetic robot track included three events -- speed race, obstacle course and task performance -- comprehensively evaluating the robots' mobility and task execution capabilities.
The speed race event assessed the participating robots performance on a 40-meter track. During the finals, "Tiangong" was the only full-sized humanoid robot that completed the race by running, winning the championship with a time of 15.66 seconds.
The obstacle course had 10 types of terrains, aimed at evaluating the stability, agility, and rapid movement capabilities of robots under various conditions. On the field, "Tiangong" swiftly and smoothly navigated through the various terrains, such as gravel roads and slopes, and even completed a running task around pylons. With the highest overall completion rate, "Tiangong" secured the championship in the obstacle race of the humanoid biomimetic robot track.
The awards won by "Tiangong" in the competition are a token to the innovative achievements in the development of humanoid intelligent robot industry in Beijing E-Town. By 2030, E-Town is expected to build a leading domestic and world-class demonstration new area for the humanoid intelligent robot industry.
