The SY-2 digital traditional Chinese medicine meridian therapy robot provides treatment to a patient.

The Xinglinyuan Application Demonstration Center for the innovative digital meridian therapy robot in the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry recently opened in Beijing. The SY-2 digital TCM meridian therapy robot, the core equipment of this demonstration center, is a significant achievement of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town).

"The digital TCM meridian therapy robot is domestically-developed treatment equipment with independent intellectual property rights in China. In 2021, it obtained the first 'Innovative Medical Device' qualification certification in the TCM industry for therapeutic purposes," said Huang Jinli, general manager of Zhongke Shangyi, a Beijing E-Town-based company that produced this SY-2 machine.

Huang said the equipment has five major functional components: a three-dimensional optical positioning and mirroring system, an intelligent control system, dual collaborative robotic arms, a multi-physical factor conditioning head and a pitch-displacement movable bed. It integrates cutting-edge technologies such as TCM meridian theory, intelligent positioning, mirroring algorithms, flexible robotics and sensing, which integrate traditional Chinese acupuncture techniques with AI technology through a "hand-eye-brain" approach. This equipment digitizes, intelligently manages and precisely performs the treatment process, not only retaining the essence of TCM treatment but also enhancing the efficiency and safety of the treatment.

The robot is being deployed nationwide, empowering the establishment of application demonstration centers in various scenarios in the field of TCM health preservation. This initiative can effectively drive the development of modernization in TCM and the digital healthcare industry.
