Multiple 'E-Town Originals' debut at Paris Olympics

Updated: 2024-08-14

The Paris Olympics wrapped up on Aug 12 Beijing time. Many enterprises from the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (Beijing E-Town) were involved in this globally awaited event, showcasing the charm of "Chinese technology," and "Chinese wisdom".

The Olympic Technology Innovation Consortium supported by Beijing E-Town brings together the nation's scientific and technological innovation forces and has provided a range of pioneering technologies and products, which made a stunning debut and broke foreign monopolies.

In the 50m rifle 3 positions men's shooting final at the Paris Olympics, the high-performance shooting apparel worn by Chinese athlete and champion of the event, Liu Yukun, was developed by the Olympic Technology Innovation Consortium. It has made breakthroughs in key core technologies such as hard high-resilience composite material design, high-friction damping reinforcement materials, and ergonomic structural design, in addition to developing advanced materials and manufacturing processes with independent intellectual property rights. The high-performance shooting apparel equipment meets the requirements of the International Shooting Union, reaching an international top-level standard and breaking China's reliance on imports in this field.

A highly sensitive, reliable, and stable nano-flexible timing pressure sensor developed by the consortium has achieved a timing accuracy of one millionth. It can be used continuously for three years without replacement. The pressure sensor surpasses similar foreign products in terms of sensors, triggers and high-precision timing systems, breaking an international monopoly situation.

A rowing shell that fits the body shape of Chinese people developed by the consortium overcame the critical issue of compatibility between the mechanical stability and drag reduction effects of biomimetic materials, featuring low swing and enduring power. The consortium has produced the world's first high mechanical strength biomimetic nano-materials.

Moreover, the domestically produced low-resistance, high-performance cycling equipment, overcame the challenges of micro-nanostructure large-area manufacturing technology. This achievement includes realizing large-area manufacturing of thin films and optimizing structural design to reduce resistance on bicycle wheel hubs. A new vehicle-mounted resistance reduction experimental device aimed at reducing resistance for rotating bodies was also developed, with related technologies at the forefront of the international level.
