E-Town builds International Medical Innovation Park
During the 3rd Conference of the Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia, the Invest in Beijing Promotional Conference was held at the China National Convention Center on July 18.
Kong Lei, director of the Administrative Committee of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (E-Town), announced the construction plan for the "International Medical Innovation Park (Bio-Park)".
This park aims to become a leading and gathering area for international medical innovation resources, forming a medical innovation center that drives the development of southern Beijing and connects global innovation resources.
"We have chosen an important node area with a superior location and convenient transportation as the spatial carrier for the International Medical Innovation Park. This area, with a 15-kilometer radius, is rich in medical innovation resources, meeting the needs of the medical innovation chain." Kong stated at the promotional conference that Bio-Park will become a functionally integrated area combining headquarters offices, research and development, manufacturing, and leisure.
In terms of innovation resource aggregation, Bio-Park focuses on cutting-edge fields of future health, such as quantitative synthetic biology technology, next-generation sequencing technology, and therapeutic gene-editing technology. It aims to introduce strategic scientists, internationally renowned scientific and technological leaders, and innovative teams from around the globe.
Regarding innovative products, the park promotes the innovative development of pharmaceutical and medical device products. Simultaneously, it encourages research breakthroughs in key core technologies, such as medical embodied robots, life information and support systems, and accelerates the application and promotion of intelligent nano-carriers and micro-nano robots for biomedicine.
In terms of the innovation ecosystem, Bio-Park will further strengthen the construction of an international scientific research environment and increase support for the entire chain of innovative pharmaceutical research and development, production, and application.
Bio-Park will rely on the capital's medical and information technology industry advantages to promote the integrated development of BT (biotechnology) and IT (information technology) through AI (artificial intelligence) computing power.
