On Feb 21, at the special session of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development conference held in Beijing E-Town, efforts have been made from multiple perspectives such as industrial collaboration, inter-provincial facilitation, and support for the construction of the sub-center to promote the deepening of coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

Focus on 'chain' empowerment 

From organizing five new energy vehicle manufacturers and parts enterprises such as Xiaomi Auto and Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co (BHAP) to conduct precise supply-demand matchmaking meetings in both places, to strategic cooperation with Hebei province and Tianjin municipality, deep involvement in the construction of smart and connected demonstrations in the core urban area of Tianjin municipality, and organizing Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei special industrial matchmaking meetings, Beijing E-Town builds platforms, gathers resources, and strengthens chains to build a complementary industrial pattern.

Advancing inter-provincial facilitation

Since the issuance of the national-level guidance on "inter-provincial facilitation" in 2020, Beijing E-Town has been at the forefront of trial and exploration, targeting the needs of enterprises, and has carried out explorations in coordination with government services in economic-technological development areas in Tianjin and Hebei. 

The area has initiated the first "inter-provincial facilitation" cooperation among national economic-technological development areas with the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area. 

The head of the Administrative Approval Bureau of Beijing E-Town said "Currently, the two places have jointly launched 40 'inter-provincial facilitation' matters. With the promotion of government departments in the three regions, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei has successively launched four groups of 179 'same matters, same standards' matters, achieving 'indiscriminate acceptance, standardized processing' and truly facilitating the people and benefiting enterprises."

Supporting the construction of urban sub-centers

The Taima area (Taihu and Majuqiao) located in the urban sub-center of Beijing is an important node in the construction of the E-Town New Area. 

In November 2023, the Beijing Data Infrastructure Pilot Zone was officially launched and operated. According to the plan, a 32-square-kilometer area centered on the Taihu area will conduct pilot projects for data infrastructure reform, create a comprehensive experimental field for data infrastructure reform, a gathering area for data elements, and a highland for data industry development.

As of now, Beijing E-Town has laid out major industrial projects such as integrated circuits and intelligent manufacturing in the Taima area, with 52 projects implemented, with a planned total investment of 240 billion yuan ($33.35 billion). It will simultaneously increase construction investment to a total of over 400 billion yuan.
