Beijing E-Town supports 596 dual carbon projects
Beijing E-Town held a series of matchmaking events on June 15 on the development of manufacturing in support of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. It engaged in interpreting policies related to low-carbon development demands and sharing experiences to promote supply-demand connections.
Over 40 companies, including JD Technology, Carbonstop, and Beijing Institute of Biological Products Co participated in the event.
Zhao Zhiyong, general manager of Energy Conservation BU at Beijing BOE Energy Technology Co, shared the company's case studies on carbon reduction.
Their self-developed BOE Smart Energy Operation System (BSEOS) can meet the diverse needs of customers. In a green smart low-carbon demonstration park project supported by BSEOS, the energy saving rate reached 51.98 percent and the carbon reduction rate reached 37.41 percent, all achieved without increasing the capacity of transformers.
If you look down at the factory of ABB -- one of the Fortune Global 500 companies located in Beijing E-Town -- from the sky, you will see solar photovoltaic panels covering the roof.
This roof can generate about 420,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which is equivalent to reducing approximately 920 tons of greenhouse gas emissions in the past two years.
According to the head of Beijing E-Town Economic Development Bureau, the area supports the green transformation of enterprises, and more and more green factories like ABB are rapidly emerging. So far, Beijing E-Town has a total of 33 national-level green factories, ranking first in Beijing.
Green factories are just a microcosm of Beijing E-Town's efforts to promote green and low-carbon development.
The area continues to tap into the potential for building energy conservation and carbon reduction, encourages companies to implement green building renovations, and promotes the construction of BOE's eighth-generation line as the largest three-star green industrial building project in the country.
It is also promoting the development of green and intelligent transportation, achieving an average charging service radius of 0.9 kilometers in the city, creating the city's first pure electric vehicle time-sharing leasing platform and a batch of slow traffic system demonstration areas.
With the promotion of policies, Beijing E-Town has supported a total of 596 projects related to environmental protection, energy conservation, and green building, with a funding support of 330 million yuan ($45.74 million).
This has driven environmental investments by enterprises to reach 1.86 billion yuan, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 80,000 tons and nitrogen oxides by 395 tons.
