Nanhaizi Rice Paddy Art to come

Updated: 2023-06-19

Recently, with the completion of rice planting, a rice paddy art spanning about 50 acres with a theme of elk has taken shape in the farmland across from the south gate of Xunfeng Garden in Nanhaizi Park.

This is another attempt by Beijing E-Town to integrate agriculture, culture, and tourism, and add natural growth and color to the construction of a green and livable eco-friendly urban area.

Amidst the lush green rice seedlings, the water-filled fields present a pastoral scene, complementing the wisdom of the exquisitely embroidered city.

How to awaken the long-dormant farmland in Nanhaizi and integrate it with the picturesque scenery of Nanhaizi Park? The staff of Beijing Nanhaizi Investment Management Co pondered over this question and made this attempt.

The Nanhaizi farmland project covers a total area of 555 acres, with the rice paddy art occupying about 50 of them.

"Since the establishment of the Nanhaizi farmland project, we have been combined rice paddy farming, rice processing, and agricultural product sales, along with agricultural sightseeing, to create a new pattern of agricultural development. Rice paddy art is a wonderful part of it," said Gao Linyan, a staff member of Beijing Nanhaizi Investment Management Co.

As a combination of agriculture, culture, and tourism, the rice paddy art can be enjoyed by visitors and also serves the purpose of land conservation. In addition, the project plans to build a sightseeing tower next to the rice paddy and raise rice field fish and rice field crabs in the paddy in the future. This will allow visitors to experience the leisurely joy of appreciating the art from a high point, as well as the fishing and crabbing, providing them with a greater sense of happiness and fulfillment.

"The Nanhaizi rice paddy art in the farmland is a new project that integrates research, production, education, and appreciation in Nanhaizi Park. We look forward to this rice paddy art flourishing and greeting visitors soon." Gao added.

The rice paddy art is expected to unfold its beauty to visitors this year.
