Beijing E-Town home to 32 national green factories

Updated: 2023-03-31

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the list of green manufacturing for 2022, and Beijing E-Town has added two more green factories: NAURA Technology Group and Beijing ABB High Voltage Switchgear.

To date, there are 32 national green factories in Beijing E-Town, accounting for nearly 30 percent of the total, and ranking first in the city.

These national green factories cover the four dominant industries in Beijing E-Town. From BOE Display to Guanjie Display, Corning Display, from Beijing Mercedes-Benz to ZF, green factories in the fields of new-generation information technology and new energy intelligent automobiles run through upstream and downstream companies.

Enterprises in the biotechnology and big health industry implement the "dual carbon" strategy through diversified energy-saving and carbon-reduction measures.

For instance, Youcare Pharmaceutical has built an energy management online detection platform and reuses boiler waste heat. By recovering heat from flue gas to replace steam, the company can save thousands of kilowatts of heat every day.

Meanwhile, the national green factory map in Beijing E-Town also demonstrates the features of a circular economy.

As early as 2020, SMC supported a project of BOE Display, which received energy-saving awards from the Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission.

When BOE Display encountered problems with insufficient pressure at the end of the compressed air system, SMC staff who had been providing pneumatic system products and services to BOE came to diagnose the issue and proposed a pressure reduction solution to help the company save energy in the pneumatic system.

Eventually, the project saved 1803 tons of standard coal in one year. Now, both BOE Display and SMC have been selected as national green factories.

In recent years, to encourage enterprises to improve their production processes and promote green, low-carbon, and circular development, Beijing E-Town has provided policy guidance through the Green Development Fund.

Last year, the first batch of 99 projects that were awarded support from the Green Development Fund -- including energy-saving and carbon-reduction, carbon neutral certification, green factories, and green buildings -- have all been fulfilled and paid.
