Beijing E-Town identifies six offshore innovation centers
The list of offshore innovation centers in Beijing E-Town was released recently, and six overseas R&D institutions were identified.
The selected firms are Chipones IML, Biotech Pharmas Medieval Molecular Immunology Center, Synaptic Medicals American R&D Center, WeMed's Italian Overseas R&D Center, ACROBiosystemsn Group, and Silex Microsystems Co.
The key to the offshore innovation center model lies in the organic integration of the international offshore R&D centers and the domestic R&D innovation system.
The two cooperate with each other and promote each other to build a global collaborative R&D system. On the one hand, it can integrate global R&D resources and R&D collaboration to achieve 24-hour continuous R&D, shorten the R&D cycle, and reduce costs. On the other hand, it can optimize R&D results.
The reconfiguration of global R&D promotes global complementarity and demand connection, which can ensure the continuity of R&D and production, seize the forefront of the international market, and maximize benefits.
When the news that Synaptic Medical was recognized as an offshore innovation center in Beijing E-Town, it reached Synaptic Medical's American R&D Center, and their overseas technical team expressed pleasant surprise.
"There are basically foreigners working in the United States to carry out R&D work. For them, it is very encouraging to be recognized by Beijing E-Town. Meanwhile, it also strengthens our confidence in continuing to develop the Sino-US dual-core R&D model," said Huang Ying, vice president of Synaptic Medical. As an enterprise focusing on the independent R&D and production of high-end medical devices in the field of cardiac electrophysiology, Synaptic Medical established its American R&D center in 2020.

In Sweden, the overseas R&D institution of Silex Microsystems Co, is focusing on MEMS (micro-electromechanical systems) wafer fabrication.
Since its establishment, Silex Microsystems Co has accumulated more than 400 items of process development experiences. From 2019 to 2021, it has ranked first in the global MEMS pure foundry manufacturers for three consecutive years.
Currently, in the research and development of more than 10 core process modules that Silex Microsystems has carried out, there are industry-leading MEMS engineering comprehensive application core process technologies -- TSV (Through Silicon Via) technology series and functional sealing cap series -- which realize the core process breakthrough in China.
