Since 2012, Beijing E-Town has continued to expand and open up, and further integrated into the global innovation circle.

With the number of foreign enterprises in Beijing continuing to increase, Beijing E-Town has attracted more than 140 Fortune 500 companies to settle in its location.

In addition, the total import and export volume of Beijing E-Town has increased from more than $21 billion in 2012 to $31.53 billion in 2021, an increase of about 50 percent.

The actual utilization of foreign capital has risen from $669 million in 2012 to $820 million in 2021.

The German company Festo, a leading manufacturer in the field of automation technology, came to know Beijing E-Town because of the World Robot Conference.

Two months before the 2016 World Robot Conference, Festo successfully settled in Beijing E-Town.

In 2018, in order to further promote the development of intelligent manufacturing, Festo completed an experience center for the public in Beijing E-Town to provide solutions for automation problems.

As of 2021, the total export value of Beijing E-Town has jumped to $12.77 billion, an increase of more than 10 times in 20 years.

According to data, there are 50 large and medium-sized foreign manufacturing enterprises in Beijing E-Town, including 36 enterprises with R&D centers, accounting for 72 percent of the total.

From January to May this year, the R&D expenses of 36 foreign-funded R&D centers totaled 1.73 billion yuan ($238.22 million), a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent, which was 0.7 percentage points higher than the annual growth rate of these R&D centers in 2021.
