BDA thrives in first quarter
In the first quarter of 2022, the GDP of the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) reached 56.19 billion yuan ($8.28 billion), a year-on-year increase of 7.9 percent, and 3.1 percenthigher than the city's average growth rate.
Additionally, market research firm Stone Partners announced on March 23 that BOE's flexible OLED shipments in the first quarter of this year are expected to reach 20.2 million units, an increase of 74 percent from the 11.6 million units of the same period in 2021.
Driven by leading companies such as BOE, the new-generation information technology industry in the BDA has become the most powerful driver of output value growth in the first quarter. The output value of the industry in the first quarter reached 30.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.5 percent.
According to statistics from the BDA Economic Development Bureau, the total industrial output value of the zone in the first quarter reached 137.52 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.4 percent.
In addition to the electronic information industry, the robotics and intelligent manufacturing industries in the BDA have also brought unexpected joy. The industry's output value reached 13.49 billion yuan this year, a year-on-year increase of 26.6 percent.
